Research and Development

To deliver safe, effective and person focused health care it is essential that systems and practices are founded on sound knowledge and a robust evidence base. The Scottish Ambulance Service is encouraging this concept by developing a research-aware, active, and evidence based culture. Over recent years the Service has committed to developing its research capability and capacity thereby ensuring research and evidence become an integrated component of the service we provide.

For over five years the Service has invested in a full time Clinical Research Paramedic post through an attachment to the Scottish Government, Chief Scientist Office, Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions Research Unit, based at the University of Stirling.  This unique collaboration has enabled numerous research projects to be undertaken all of which have had a direct impact on the quality and safety of care we provide to the people who use our service.
