Involving patients
Commitment
The Scottish Ambulance Service is committed to learning from the experiences of patients, as well as involving patients, carers and members of the public in decisions about its Services.
This commitment will ensure that the Service:
- will treat people with respect and as individuals by involving patients in their own care;
- is a service designed for and with the people who use it;
- involves people and local communities in improving the quality of care and services it delivers.
Patient Focus
A patient-focused Scottish Ambulance Service will:
- listen and talk to patients, carers and the public;
- know and understand the needs of its service users;
- keep patients and carers informed about services and changes to services;
- be able to respond to the particular needs of each patient and carers;
- ensure effective action is taken to improve its services.
Public Involvement
The Scottish Ambulance Service will involve people in decisions about planning and delivering the services it provides.
Anyone can be involved in the development of the Scottish Ambulance Service, you may be:
- a patient;
- a carer;
- a member of the public who may use services in the future;
- a representative of patients and the public.
