Missing DiscIn June 2008, a package containing contact information from our Paisley Emergency Medical Dispatch Centre (EMDC) went mssing while in transit with a courier to one of our specialist IT suppliers. The portable data disc contained a copy of the record of calls to the Ambulance Service in the West of Scotland between February 2006 and June 2008. This included the addresses of incidents, some phone numbers and some patient names. It would be extremely difficult for anybody to gain access to any meaningful information. All the information was password protected and was protected by high security industry standard encryption. In addition, to further protect the information, all the data was scrambled so that it should not be possible to match any of the information against an individual. You can find answers to questions. The secure management of patient data is vitally important to the Scottish Ambulance Service. We are very sorry for any concern or anxiety this may have caused you. Please be reassured that due to security measures it would be extremely difficult for anybody to gain access to any meaningful information. |
