Title : Physical and Verbal abuse
Ref No : FOI/1089/17
Theme : Violence and aggression
Final Outcome :
Reply Date : 15/01/2018 00:00:00
Description :

Please see the following questions that require your response: How many cases have been recorded of physical or verbal abuse against paramedics from 2014-2015, 2015-2016 and latest figures for 2016-2017. Of these cases, how many resulted in injury of the paramedic, distress of the paramedic, or the paramedic then requesting counselling services, or the paramedic requesting further equipment/training Of these cases, how many instances were the police called to assist? And if so, how many resulted in a successful transportation of patient to hospital, or transportation of patient to police custody. Finally, of the paramedics abused, could you provide basic details of their person: gender, age, ethnicity, and recordings of the incident itself: abusive words used, how long the instance lasted, in a public place or private place. I would be grateful if you could provide information to the best of your ability and thank you for your efforts. Please contact me at rebecca.gilroy@markallengroup.com for further clarity if needed. Best wishes, Rebecca Gilroy

Currently I am undertaking research for my dissertation on suicide prevention. Would it be possible to obtain data for patient suicide/suicidal attempts, attended by the Scottish Ambulance Service within the dates of 2007-2017. Additionally, could you confirm which suicide assessment tool the Scottish Ambulance Service uses? Kind Regards Alexandra Elson Student Paramedic
