Special Operations Ambulance Paramedic

A Paramedic wearing breathing aparatus

Special Operations Response Team (SORT) Paramedics are trained to use the full range of paramedic skills but also have an enhanced level of training to be able to deliver those skills in a wider range of challenging and often hazardous environments whilst wearing specialist equipment. For example, teams are trained in swift water rescue techniques, responding at heights and in confined spaces where they may have to wear breathing apparatus equipment.

They are responsible for triage, treatment and care of patients at the very heart of an incident and need to work closely with other emergency services.

In addition to this they are specialists in incident management including major incident response and casualty decontamination.

A full training package is provided on appointment to the role.
