January 2015 Intake -Trainee Ambulance Technicians
TRAINEE RELIEF AMBULANCE TECHNICIAN BAND 4 - £19,202 - £22,236 pro rata per annum
Applications are invited for the above vacancies based within various ambulance station locations.
The successful applicant for the Ambulance Technician post will be enrolled on the new clinical programme which leads to a “Certificate of Higher Education (Cert HE) in Ambulance Studies”. The programme is delivered over a 12 month period during which you will spend the first 11 weeks at our Scottish Ambulance Academy based within Glasgow Caledonian University. After the 11 weeks, you will progress to your allocated Ambulance Station to undertake “practice placement”. All applicants will also be required to complete the 3 week “Emergency Response Driving Education and Training Programme”.
The next course will commence in January 2015. Given the short timescale and requirement to be registered with Glasgow Caledonian University 6 weeks ahead of the course, it will be mandatory that all applicants already hold a category “C1” driving licence to apply.
All candidates will be required to satisfy the following recruitment and entry requirements:
• A&E Fitness Test
• Occupational Health Screening/Medical
• Satisfactory application to the PVG (Disclosure) Scheme
• 2 Highers at grade C and 5 Standard Grades at level 3, to include English and a science subject for the Ambulance Technician post
Frequently Asked Questions
The starting salary for Technician Students is £16,677 pro rata per annum, rising to £19,202 pro rata per annum on successful completion of the Cert HE in Ambulance Studies. This will increase in annual increments to £22,236 pro rata per annum, subject to annual development reviews.
