Community Resilience

A Community First Responder

A very important part of our overall emergency care is the role of our First Responders. We currently have over 1000 and they provide a vital community based volunteer resource that can help their community by responding to medical emergencies while the ambulance is on its way.

All volunteers receive specialist training and equipment so that they can provide an early intervention before the arrival of the professional ambulance crew.

Often, a role as a First Responder can be a good first step to working with us, giving you in insight into what life would be like as a qualified Ambulance Technician or Ambulance Paramedic.

You don’t need any previous medical training but you will need a caring attitude and the ability deal with potentially distressing situations.
