Who can become a Community First Responder?

To become a volunteer first responder you must be:

  • at least 18 years old
  • have a full driving license with a maximum of three penalty points
  • able to demonstrate and maintain a level of fitness to meet the role
  • an effective communicator with good interpersonal skills
  • able to demonstrate logical approach
  • work under pressure, yet stay calm
  • have a desire to learn
  • reside or work in the area in which the scheme is based
  • able to respond without delay to incidents
  • complete a criminal records check (Enhanced Disclosure Scotland check)
  • have some first aid knowledge (not essential)
  • long term commitment to the role.

Eligibility to work in the UK

In applying for any volunteering role you are required to confirm your eligibility to work in the UK. Please note that legislation dictates that all non EU nationals are required to be in possession of a valid work permit.

We are legally obliged to ask you to provide evidence of your right of abode in the UK. If you are successful with your volunteer application we will ask you to provide appropriate documents, such as your passport, visa, work permit or birth certificate in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996.
