Welcome to the Patient
Focus & Public Involvement section
of our web site.
In December 2002, the Scottish Executive published Our National
Health: A plan for action, A plan for change.
The document outlined plans to improve the health of people in
Scotland, deliver high quality health and social care services,
and address inequalities in health more efficiently.
Key to these improvements is a belief that it is no longer good
enough to do things to people, but that a modern healthcare service
must do things with the people it serves.
To achieve this, the following were identified as the goals for
all Health Boards in Scotland;
- A service where people are respected, treated as individuals
and involved in their own care.
- A service where individuals, groups and communities are involved
in improving the quality of care, in influencing priorities
and in planning services.
- A service designed for and involving users.
The Scottish Ambulance Service have adopted these as our principles
when developing Public Involvement, and this web site is one part
of a wider plan to involve the public in the work of the Scottish
Ambulance Service.
