A Paramedic

Paramedics are registered healthcare professionals who work autonomously to provide care in a range of situations.

They are educated and trained to make decisions in complex and high-pressure situations in unfamiliar and often unpredictable environments.  They have the skills to diagnose and treat a wide range of illnesses and injuries from babies to the elderly.  They will often treat you at home to reduce avoidable hospital admissions.

As well as responding to 999 calls, Paramedics work in a number of other areas of healthcare including GP practices.
