A MUM who was in a car crash with her two young children has thanked the SAS ambulance crew who came to her aid
Shannon Higgins, of Irvine, was driving on Long Drive on February 6 (2025) when she was involved in a collision with another vehicle. Her two children Izzy, eight months at the time, and Adam, eight, and husband Shaun, were in the vehicle with her.
Melissa Maclaren, Technician of Kilwinning, and Jennifer Henderson, Paramedic of Ardrossan, attended to Shannon and her family.
Shannon, a nurse, said: “The crew in the ambulance came straight over to us and looked after our two children.
“As someone who has never been in a car accident this situation was terrifying. The ambulance staff were amazing with not only the kids but both of us as parents as well. I am a nurse myself and I am usually on the other side of things, so to be in that situation is horrible.
“The crew kept my 8-year-old calm and entertained after what was a scary and traumatic experience for him. I honestly can’t thank them enough for their care and would like to be pass on my thanks and appreciation.”
