SAS emergency response trio recognised at Edinburgh Tattoo

Three SAS emergency response staff stand with First Minister John Swinney

Three Scottish Ambulance Service staff members have been recognised at this year’s Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

This year is the 75th year of the iconic Edinburgh event and to commemorate the occasion, organisers are celebrating The Heroes Who Made Us, a tribute to the individuals who have shaped its history and the world around us.

Every night at the Tattoo images of the heroes are being projected on the walls of Edinburgh Castle as part of the heroic Show finale.

This includes Paramedics Barry Milven and Nick Nelson, and Technician Michael MacLennan, all of Edinburgh City Station, who attended to a patient at last year’s Tattoo within the stands.

The three SAS staff members attended an event to commemorate the Tattoo on Saturday at a special reception at Bute House, which was attended by First Minister John Swinney

Robin Jeffrey, Area Service Manager, said: “It’s fantastic these three staff members have been recognised for their heroic efforts at last year’s Tattoo and all they do in their roles with the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“They are wonderful ambassadors for the Scottish Ambulance Service, and it is completely fitting they are recognised at this year’s Tattoo alongside all the other worthy recipients.”
