Charity hair shave for SAS colleagues affected by cancer

Two Scottish Ambulance Service staff members have shaved their hair off for charity in support of three colleagues affected by cancer.
Lynne Gordon and Linda Macmillan, both paramedics at Cumnock Ambulance Station, raised money for Ayrshire Cancer Support at the event today (30 January).
The pair have raised more than £7,200 already.
Lynne said: “Our three colleagues affected are two with a personal diagnosis and one who has a daughter with a diagnosis. All three affected are having active treatment and I have the utmost respect for how they are coping with it. The fear they all must feel is unimaginable and I wish so much that I could take it away for them.”
Another staff member, Darren Ralston, Technician at Cumnock, also had his hair shaved for a young girl in his community undergoing chemotherapy.
Lynne added: “All our colleagues in the station have been wonderful and do everything they can in whatever way they can; from being there to listen in times of need to helping with transport for hospital appointments.
“We have all worked together for a long time, with many, many ups and downs over the years but ultimately, I feel like this has actually brought us all closer together.”
Lynne said both her and Linda had never done anything like this before, and added: “As women we can totally relate how devastating losing the hair on your head can be. We aim to embrace this new look boldly and show that bald can be beautiful.”
