The Scottish Ambulance Service is bringing in a range of extra initiatives this winter, including new frontline staff, ambulances and enhancements to 999 call centre operations.

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland and SAS Launch Support Service for People Involved in ‘Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest’

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland has partnered with the Scottish Ambulance Service and the Resuscitation Research Group at the University of Edinburgh (RRG) to launch a pilot service on Wednesday 1st November to support those who witness or provide CPR to someone who experiences cardiac arrest at home or in the community.

Skye Cousins complete over 2,000 volunteering hours

Skye-based cousins, Steve Brealey and Bridget Little, have racked up over 2,000 hours on call as Community First Responders (CFRs) in the Glendale area of Skye.

Save a life! The Restart a Heart Campaign aims to save more lives

The Restart a Heart campaign starts on 16 October, a  lifesaving initiative aiming to help save more lives across Scotland by teaching people vital resuscitation skills which can be used if someone goes into cardiac arrest. 

Public urged to help save lives by joining the GoodSAM App Movement

Over 3,000 people in Scotland have an out of hospital cardiac arrest every year and every second counts. The public can help by dialling 999, starting CPR – or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation - and using a defibrillator it can help save lives.
