Can you give me a year-by-year breakdown of safeguarding referrals made in Glasgow via the dedicated safeguarding intranet-based system only from 2012 until 2023? Can you give me a further breakdown of these referrals made per ambulance station in Glasgow in the same time period and same parameters?

The Scottish Ambulance Service did not start collating information on safeguarding referrals until June 2021 therefore, information from 2012 to June 2021 is not held in a way that is reportable; it is for this reason we have applied section 17 of the Freedom of Information Scotland Act, as information not held.
Please see the attached data sheet detailing the number of safeguarding referrals made from June 2021- March 2025 inclusive. We have included figures for all of Scotland and for patients within the Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board.
The Safeguarding referrals are made for the patients and data is collated in relation to the patient. The figures below are for patients that live within the Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board. Information is not held in a way that allows us to report on who makes the safeguarding referrals; we cannot attribute these referrals to any particular stations. The Scottish Ambulance Service is a national service where staff from Glasgow stations may attend to patients out with the Glasgow area, equally staff out with Glasgow stations may attend to patients within the Glasgow health board area. Therefore, we cannot report safeguarding referrals at a station level. It is for this reason we have applied section 17 of the Freedom of Information Scotland Act, as information not held.
It is important to note that the digitally enabled referral form was not launched until July 2023, figures from before this date have been collated via a variety of methods.
