The number of incidents where naloxone has been noted as being administered by ambulance crews (Scotland-wide) in the following calendar years:
- a) 2022; b) 2023; c) 2024; d) 2025 (most recent)
- Response
We have applied section 25 of the Freedom of Information Scotland Act 2002 to the first and third point above, this information is reasonably accessible on our website under a previous FOI request - FOI 25-119 Naloxone Usage 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 until date
There have been 1250 cases of naloxone recorded on Terrapace 2, and 390 cases reported on Terrapace 3 from 01/01/2025 - 31/05/2025
This information has been provided in two tables as a new clinical system is being phased in. This phased system has been in place since June 24 and involves only portion of Scotland. There is the possibility that that an incident from the Terrapace 3 system could be counted in the Terrapace 2 system and therefore the figures in the table should NOT be added together.
Point to note – This is a count of cases where the crew used the Naloxone (Narcan) drug button on the patient report forms. This count will not include cases where Naloxone was administered by bystanders or from the patient’s own supply.
