Why Is toileting equipment (bedpans, urine bottles) not standard equipment onboard ambulances? When was the decision made this equipment was considered superfluous to patients' needs? By whom was the decision made this equipment was considered superfluous to patients' needs?

Response

The Scottish Ambulance Service has not made a decision to remove these items from their ambulances and still hold them in stock.

They are included in the standard vehicle checklist (foi-24-448-vecs_final_19_05_2011_version_1-1-1.pdf) in both A&E and Patient Transport Vehicles under Sequential Clinical Equipment Checklist that is completed for each vehicle.
