It is part of the Clinical Decision-Making Framework policy that crews should leave safety netting/worsening advice. Ideally safety netting advice would:
- Be specific so the patient would know what to look for
- Outline a time period to monitor for symptoms
- Explain what to do to seek further help
- Make clear that if in any doubt don’t delay seeking advice
- Record all information and advice on the ePR
2) What form does this advice take? ie written leaflet left with patient, on EPCR with patient having access to EPCR, signposted to or specific advice emailed to patient.
Crews leave a printed copy of the patient report form with the patient. This contains all observations, history taking, assessment, consent and any self-care advice offered.
3) If there is a written leaflet left with the patient would it be possible to see a blank copy of the leaflet used .
The Scottish Ambulance Service do not leave leaflets regarding safety-netting or worsening advice; all information is captured in the patient report form and left with the patient.
