Under the freedom of information act, I now formally request the following information and documents:
• Evidence, in the form of guidelines/ protocols/ policies to support your claims that it is normal procedure that:
1. An ambulance is not dispatched to a red coded call, particularly one post CPR
2. A red call should be referred to the clinical hub, particularly one post CPR
3. post CPR, in a patient still not conscious, the call handler would be expected to end the call to ‘free the line’, and withdraw help and advice with regards to ongoing assessment of an extremely high risk patient
4. That repeat calls about the same patient are not fully assessed again and triaged as appropriate, especially when expressing concerns regarding airway and breathing
1. An ambulance is not dispatched to a red coded call, particularly one post CPR
I have applied section 17 of the Freedom of Information Scotland Act 2002 as information not held. The Scottish Ambulance Service has no such policy, all red coded calls are Immediately Life Threatening and as such, warrant an ambulance despatch.
2. A red call should be referred to the clinical hub, particularly one post CPR
I have applied section 17 of the Freedom of Information Scotland Act 2002 as information not held. The Scottish Ambulance Service has no such policy, all red coded calls are Immediately Life Threatening and as such, warrant an ambulance despatch. Red calls would not be referred to the Clinical Hub.
3. post CPR, in a patient still not conscious, the call handler would be expected to end the call to ‘free the line’, and withdraw help and advice with regards to ongoing assessment of an extremely high risk patient
I have applied section 17 of the Freedom of Information Scotland Act 2002 as information not held. The Scottish Ambulance Service has no such policy. It should be noted that it is possible for call takers having the need to ‘free the line’ in times of significant call handling pressure, this is in line with call escalation plan.
4. That repeat calls about the same patient are not fully assessed again and triaged as appropriate, especially when expressing concerns regarding airway and breathing
I have applied section 17 of the Freedom of Information Scotland Act 2002 as information not held. The Scottish Ambulance Service has no such policy. This is not the agreed process with the Scottish Ambulance Service unless the information is specific.
