The number of incidents when more than one dose of naloxone was administered to a patient by ambulance crews (Scotland-wide) in the following calendar years:
- a) 2022; b) 2023; c) 2024 and d) 2025 (most recent)
- Response
Please see the tables below detailing cases where Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) crews administered more than one dose of naloxone to a patient during a single incident.
This information has been provided in two tables as a new clinical system is being phased in. This phased system has been in place since June 24 and involves only a portion of Scotland. There is the possibility that an incident from the Terrapace 3 system could be counted in the Terrapace 2 system and therefore the figures in the table should NOT be added together.
Point to note – This is a count of cases where the crew used the Naloxone (Narcan) drug button on the patient report forms. This count will not include cases where Naloxone was administered by bystanders or from the patient’s own supply.
