Response

Please see the attached sheet detailing the information requested regarding Mental Health related calls.

The first tab details the number of Mental Health calls received, the number of incidents attended, and the number conveyed to hospital.  There is also the total number of ALL emergency calls received to show the proportion of mental health calls as a percentage.  This information has also been broken down into health board area and by year.

Important Information to Note – The information on this tab has been gathered from where the initial call was received and triaged as mental health or where they have been passed to the Intergraded Clinical Hub and triaged as a mental health call.  There may be calls received that have been triaged and categorised under another clinical code, particularly where there is an element of self-harm.

It is for this reason we have included the second and third tab – T2 and T3.  The information on these two tabs includes calls that were initially coded as mental health, has a final code of mental health (after crew attendance) or has an additional factor of Mental Health noted by the crew.

The Scottish Ambulance Service is currently implementing a new clinical system. This phased system has been in place since June 24 and involves only a portion of Scotland. There is the possibility that an incident from the Terrapace 3 system could be counted in the Terrapace 2 system and therefore the figures in the table should NOT be added together.
