Response

The Scottish Ambulance Service have applied section 17 of the Freedom of Information Scotland Act 2002 as information not held prior to June 2024.  To help explain the application of this exemption the clinical system prior to June 2024 does not have the dataset captured to report on bike v’s vehicles.

The Scottish Ambulance Service is currently phasing in the introduction of a new clinical system.  This phased roll-out began in June 2024 and currently covers part of Scotland.  The new system does allow reporting of the requested information, and this is what has been provided. However, this may not be definitive, as the roll-out is ongoing and some ambulances continue to use the old system. Consequently, not all incidents may have been captured.

For the given data, you will see that some of the figures are shown as <5, these figures have been suppressed because the statistical value is less than five. The Scottish Ambulance service has a duty, under the Data Protection Act to avoid directly or indirectly revealing any personal details. It is therefore widely understood that provision of statistics on small numbers, five or less are statistically suppressed upon disclosure.
