- Information Requested
I would be grateful if you could provide the following data for the duration of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival August 2025, and as a comparison the month after (September) • The number of reported trip-and-fall accidents on the Edinburgh streets, requiring urgent medical care and an indication of the suspected injury on ambulance collection (e.g. fractures, head injuries). • Locations (i.e. street name) of these incidents and contributing factors (e.g. hidden bollards, uneven surfaces, crowd density).
- Response
After careful consideration, I must advise that we do not hold the information requested.
While we do record incidents involving falls, this data is not specific to falls occurring on streets. Our records include falls in various settings such as homes, gardens, and shops. Additionally, some falls that occur outdoors may not be categorised under “falls” but instead under the suspected injury (e.g., fracture, head injury) at triage.
We do not have a way to extract data solely for trips and falls on Edinburgh streets, nor do we hold location details that distinguish between incidents occurring indoors or outdoors. Consequently, we cannot provide the street names or contributing factors you requested.
It is for this reason we have applied section 17 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, as the information you have requested is not held.
