- Response
The Scottish Ambulance Service do not currently have bleed kits integrated into the 999 emergency response system. It is for this reason we have applied section 17 of the Freedom of Information Scotland Act 2002, as information not held.
When callers report a catastrophic bleed, call takers advise applying firm, direct pressure to the wound using a clean, dry cloth. If bleeding cannot be controlled, they follow Protocol T, which includes using a makeshift tourniquet (such as a belt) applied above the wound until help arrives.
