Important information to consider – The main reason for the Scottish Ambulance Service not attending calls is typically because the police have subsequently called to cancel the ambulance.
Calls can be received either directly from police at the scene or via the Police Control Centre. When a call is received from a police officer, it should be processed in the same way as a public 999 call, with full triage. If Pre-Arrival Instructions (PAIs) for high-level first aid is suitable, the Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) should provide these to the police caller. However, PAIs may be omitted if the officer confirms they are not required.
