Information Requested

Last years NQP recruitment resulted in several people being verbally offered jobs and then had their offers retracted due to no vacancy. Will everyone who has been offered verbal offers be given a job in the current year?

When can people with February/March 2026 start dates expect to receive official contracts and pre employment checks.

Some have received nothing other than a phone call and given last years mess some are obviously concerned.

Some people have yet to be told stations having only been told you are successful in a region and given a start date. When will these people have confirmation of station?

How are SAS planning on improving NQP recruitment moving forward as year on year it seems to be a bit of a mess. Not meeting deadlines, people starting before others have even found out if they are successful/unsuccessful/lack of communication

Under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA), individuals are entitled to access recorded information held by the authority. We do not create new information or provide explanations beyond what is documented.  At present, we hold recorded information confirming that successful candidates have been allocated to a region and provided with a start date. We do not hold recorded information specifying station allocations for those individuals. Any specific concerns can be raised with the local Area Service Manager or Business Support Manager.

The successful recruitment of Newly Qualified Paramedics is a key priority for SAS. This is a relatively new process for the Service and as a result we are constantly learning how this can be improved. We are listening to feedback to from all stakeholders and are actively working on the recruitment process for next year.
