Calls involving symptoms suggestive of Acute Behavioural Disturbance (ABD) are triaged using the Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS), Advanced Medical Priority Dispatch System (AMPDS). The triage determines the initial call categorisation and the urgency of the ambulance response.
Requests received from Police Scotland relating to suspected ABD are managed in accordance with the attached Police Guidance Document. This guidance outlines the escalation process for ABD calls, including how they are highlighted for further clinical review so that an appropriate acuity level can be allocated.
