- Response
The Scottish Ambulance Service does not hold a record of staff who identify as belonging to the Armed Forces Community. This includes categories such as reservists, veterans, service leavers, cadet force adult volunteers, or staff who have identified as spouses or dependants of serving personnel.
It is for this reason we have applied section 17 of the Freedom of Information Scotland Act 2002 as information not held.
To help explain the application of this exemption. The Scottish Ambulance Service does have an Armed Forces Network, this may include staff who are veterans, service leaders, cadet force adult volunteers or spouses or dependants of serving personnel; however, this network can also include supporters of the Armed Forces who have no direct link to the Armed Forces. SAS do not ask staff registered in the Network to disclose their reasoning for joining.
The only record SAS have is the Service absence hours with the absence reason of ‘Reservist Leave’; the table below provides the distinct headcount and the total absence hours for each year request. Please note this is held and has been provided in calendar years from 01/01/2022 - 31/12/2025 inclusive.
