Response
  1. What post-incident care model is in current use by your service?
  • Predominantly, the Scottish Ambulance Service currently use the Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) model of care after an incident.  If this level of input is not required, staff will be referred to the Staying Well Service (internally run by Wellbeing Team) which gives a range of more generic support.

  1. Provide a copy of the current policy and guidelines (how staff/managersreport and follow up)
  • The Scottish Ambulance Service have published they’re ‘Staying Well’ booklet - SAS Self Care Booklet.

The Scottish Ambulance Service is currently developing a TRiM policy, but for the purposes of FOISA the Scottish Ambulance Service does not hold a ‘current policy’ for this service and therefore applies section 17 of the Freedom of Information Scotland Act 2002 as information not held.

  1. How many incidents were recorded in the last fullfinancial year?
  • April 2024 to March 2025 there were 291 staff referred to the TRiM programme for support, but number of incidents this pertains to is unknown.

  1. How long has the current model been used?
  • TRiM began in June 2023, Staying Well Service began in December 2025.
