How many SAS shifts were not covered in each month of (a) 2023 (b) 2024 (c) 2025 (d) to date in 2026. Please provide these figures broken down by, (i) frontline staff (ambulance crews) (ii) station staff members (iii) call centre operators.

The Scottish Ambulance Service does not hold information on “shifts not covered” in the form requested. Workforce cover is monitored differently across staff groups (for example, by hours filled against core rosters or by hourly demand‑based modelling), and no single report exists that records uncovered shifts by month and staff category. It is for this reason we have applied section 17 of the Freedom of Information Scotland Act 2002, as information not held.
The Scottish Ambulance Service does publish information on overall operational shift cover as a percentage within publicly available Board papers, which provide an indication of workforce coverage.
