The purpose of this request is to gather data on medical emergencies associated with weight-loss procedures, particularly non-surgical procedures often performed at aesthetics and beauty clinics. *Required information* Specifically, I am seeking anonymised data on the following from January 2020 to March 2026: Where held in a searchable electronic format, please provide

The number of ambulance callouts where the recorded incident location name or incident type/description field contains any of the following keywords:

— Brazilian Bum Lift

— BBL

— Lemon bottle

— Fat dissolving injection

— Fat dissolving

— Weight loss injection

Please provide annual totals for 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and partial data for 2026 where held.

Response

The Scottish Ambulance Service records and responds to emergency incidents primarily based on the clinical presentation / chief complaint and operational dispatch details, rather than categorising incidents by the cause of injury or by the type/brand of aesthetic or weight-loss procedure a patient may have undergone.

We do not hold the requested information in a searchable format. Providing the annual totals requested would require manual review of individual incident records across the time period, which would involve creating new information. It is for this reason we have applied section 17 of the Freedom of Information Scotland Act 2002, as information not held.
