Information Requested
  1. List of IT systems utilised by frontline operations (control centre and ambulances). Specifically, command and control systems, triage systems, systems for electronic patient records and vehicle tracking systems (any system that is utilised at some point during the patient journey) 

 

  1. Name of system that is used for Incident Reporting. 

 

  1. Theinitialcost of the systems named in 1 and 2 as well as the recurring annual costs of these systems. 

 

Response

The Scottish Ambulance Service utilises a number of IT systems to support frontline operations across Ambulance Control Centres and ambulance vehicles during the patient journey. These include: 

 

  • MIS – C3 Command & Control System 
  • Paramount – ProQA Triage System 
  • Cleric – Patient Transport System (PTS) 
  • Terrafix – TerraPac3 Electronic Patient Record (ePR) system and vehicle tracking 

 

The Scottish Ambulance Service uses InPhase as its system for incident reporting in relation to staff and organisational incidents. 

 

The Scottish Ambulance Service holds information on annual contract renewal costs for some of the systems listed above. The annual costs currently held are as follows: 

  • MIS – C3 Command & Control System: Annual renewal cost – circa £750,000 
  • Cleric – Patient Transport System (PTS): Annual renewal cost – circa £120,000 
  • Terrafix – TerraPac3 ePR system and vehicle tracking:  Annual renewal cost – circa £1.7 million 

 

The Scottish Ambulance Service does not hold a single consolidated record which sets out the original implementation cost for each system listed above. To provide this information would require the collation and analysis of information from multiple contracts and historic records, which would amount to the creation of new information. 

Accordingly, in terms of section 17(1) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, this information is not held.

SAS does not hold a separate, itemised cost for the Paramount ProQA triage system.  Costs associated with triage functionality are held as part of wider contractual arrangements and are not broken down by individual system or component. To provide a specific cost for ProQA would require analysis and interpretation of contract information, which would amount to the creation of new information. 

Accordingly, in terms of section 17(1) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, this information is not held.
