- Information Requested
I'm looking for more information about the costs of repairs at Greenock Ambulance Station.
Could you please provide me with responses to the following enquiries:
- Could I please have a list of all of the outstanding repairs and maintenance costs at Greenock Ambulance Station.
- Please detail what repairs/maintenance are/is required, how much they are estimated to cost and when the issue was reported.
- Please could you provide me with the same details for all repair and maintenance work logged at Greenock Ambulance Station for January 2022 to 2026 YTD (please detail both work that is still outstanding and work that is completed and indicate whether it is outstanding or completed).
- Please also provide me with the total amount spent on repairs and maintenance in each of the years requested.
- Please also provide an estimate of the backlog maintenance cost i.e the cost that would be incurred to bring the whole station up to the state-of-the-art standard of a brand-new building.
I’d like the answers provided in an Excel spreadsheet or a pdf.

The Scottish Ambulance Service can provide information only insofar as it is held in recorded form. The Service is not required to create new information, carry out analysis, or generate estimates in order to respond to a request.
Q1 - The Scottish Ambulance Service holds recorded information in relation to repairs and maintenance jobs logged for Greenock Ambulance Station.
There are currently six outstanding repairs and maintenance jobs recorded for the site. These jobs are incomplete but have been programmed for completion.
A list of the outstanding jobs, including a brief description of the issue, the date reported, and current status, is provided in the attached extract from the Service’s maintenance system.
Q2 - For the outstanding repairs identified above, the Scottish Ambulance Service holds recorded information describing the nature of the repairs required and the date each issue was reported; this has been provided in the first tab of the attached spreadsheet.
However, estimated costs for outstanding work are not held. Repairs are undertaken by the Service’s Term Maintenance Contractors, and costs are only confirmed and recorded once work has been completed and an invoice has been received.
As a result, we are unable to provide estimated costs for outstanding repairs, as this information is not recorded at the time the jobs are logged and would require the Service to create new information.
Q3 - A list of all repairs and maintenance jobs recorded for Greenock Ambulance Station and Workshop between January 2022 and 2026 (year‑to‑date) is provided in the attached spreadsheet, tab named Q3.
The extract identifies whether each job is recorded as completed or outstanding, based on the status held in the Service’s maintenance system at the time of the request.
Q4 - The Scottish Ambulance Service holds recorded expenditure information for repairs and maintenance at Greenock Ambulance Station and Workshop from January 2022 to March 2026.
During this period, a total of £17,928.82 was spent on maintenance repairs, as set out in the attached spreadsheet.
Q5 - The Scottish Ambulance Service does not hold a definitive estimate of the cost required to bring Greenock Ambulance Station up to the standard of a brand‑new, state‑of‑the‑art facility.
However, the Service does hold a Property Condition (PC) survey which includes a high‑level indicative figure relating to works that would be required to address backlog maintenance and improve the overall condition of the building. Based on this survey, the cost to bring the station broadly in line with a new‑build standard has been estimated at £1,312,389.99.
This figure is indicative only and should be treated with caution. It is not a fixed or approved cost and is subject to significant variability, including but not limited to:
- Detailed site surveys
- Engineering assessments
- Design development
- Procurement and tender outcomes
- Construction market conditions and material costs
The Scottish Ambulance Service has not undertaken a detailed feasibility study or tender exercise in relation to such works and therefore does not hold a finalised or confirmed cost. Providing any further refinement or validation of this figure would require the creation of new information, which the Service is not required to do under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
