The Scottish Ambulance Service provides the information below based on the records held at the time of your request.
The Service does not routinely record financial information in all of the specific categories and breakdowns requested. Under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, the Service is required to provide recorded information it holds but is not required to create new information, carry out analysis, or re‑present data to answer a request.
As such, the response reflects the information held in recorded form, and where a breakdown is not held this has been indicated accordingly.
Q1 – The Scottish Ambulance Service is funded through an overall allocation from the Scottish Government to support delivery of its services. Funding is not routinely ring-fenced or recorded separately for workforce development or training in the manner requested. While training and workforce development activities are supported through this core funding, there is no specific, identifiable amount provided solely for this purpose during the period requested. Therefore, the funding received from the Scottish government for workforce development/training is £0.
Q2 – The Scottish Ambulance Service has received £0 from the Skills Development Scotland for workforce development/training.

Q5 - The Service works in partnership with universities and national bodies to support education and practice placements. However, funding arrangements for paramedic education are typically managed at a national level (e.g. through Scottish Government commissioning arrangements with higher education institutions).
Therefore, universities or government agencies in Scotland have £0 to the Scottish Ambulance Service or vice versa for facilitating practice placements.
