Information Requested

Under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, I would like to request information held by the Scottish Ambulance Service relating to all emergency medical responses to incidents on or near the River Clyde within the Glasgow City Council boundary. Please provide the following information for the period 1 January 2025 to the date this request is processed:

  1. The total number of ambulance call-outs to incidents involving a person in the River Clyde.
  2. The total number of patients treated following recovery from the River Clyde.
  3. The total number of fatalities confirmed by ambulance personnel at the scene or following recovery.
  4. A monthly breakdown of all relevant call-outs.
  5. The location of each incident (e.g. nearest bridge, quay, street, or landmark), where this can be disclosed.
  6. The date and time of each call-out.
  7. The category or nature of the call (e.g. cardiac arrest, trauma, drowning, unconscious person, etc.), where recorded.
  8. The response category or priority level assigned to each incident, where recorded.
  9. The outcome of each patient attended (e.g. treated and discharged at scene, transported to hospital, deceased, etc.), where recorded.
  10. Any internal reports, audits, or statistical summaries relating to River Clyde-related incidents during this period.
Response

While the Scottish Ambulance Service holds incident records and associated location information, it does not hold a category, code or dataset that identifies incidents involving persons in the River Clyde. Any attempt to identify such incidents would require the manual review and interpretation of individual incident records and free-text information to determine whether the incident was connected to the River Clyde and whether it fell within the scope of the request.

 

The Service would be required to review individual incident records and apply complex skill and judgement to determine whether each incident related to the River Clyde. The output of that exercise would be the creation of new information, rather than the extraction of recorded information held in a reportable format.

 

It is for this reason I am applying section 17(1) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, as the information requested is not held.
