- Information Requested
On how many occasions has a frontline A&E ambulance experienced a mechanical breakdown while actively responding to a call or transporting a patient in each of the last 3 financial years?
- Response
The Scottish Ambulance Service holds records of vehicle mechanical breakdowns; however, these are not categorised in a way that allows us to report on whether the vehicle was actively responding to a call or had a patient on board.
To determine whether a record fell within the scope of your request would require a manual review of individual records and the application of complex skill and judgement to determine if the vehicle was in an active response or not. This information is not recorded in a reportable format and there is no existing dataset from which the requested figures could be extracted.
Under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, authorities are required to provide information that they hold but are not required to create new information in order to answer a request. Accordingly, under section 17 of FOISA, we are required to give notice that the information requested is not held.
