Information Requested

Please provide me with the full cost breakdown and which budget was used to pay for the 'Power of Rainbow' pin badges and lanyards being offered to Scottish Ambulance Service staff via the Proad@sas initiative as seen in the Chief Executives update 19/09/2026. Specifically, how much was spent on these items? What budget or department paid for them? Who authorised this spend?

Response

Specifically, how much was spent on these items? The Scottish Ambulance Service does not hold information on the cost of the pin badges or lanyards. These items were not purchased using Scottish Ambulance Service funds and the Service was not responsible for their procurement.

What budget or department paid for them? The Scottish Ambulance Service did not fund the purchase of these items, and no Scottish Ambulance Service budget or department was used to pay for them.

We understand that the pin badges were funded through the National UK Ambulance LGBT+ Committee budget and the lanyards were funded through charitable donations. However, the Scottish Ambulance Service does not hold detailed information about the budgets from which these external funds were drawn.

Who authorised this spend?
As no Scottish Ambulance Service funds were used to purchase these items, there was no requirement for authorisation through Scottish Ambulance Service financial approval processes. The Scottish Ambulance Service does not hold authorisation records relating to expenditure incurred by external organisations or through charitable donations
