I would like to request the number of paediatric calls that the Scottish Ambulance Service attended over the last two years. Including total number, number attended to, number conveyed to hospital and the total number of calls per category. I would also like to know how many paediatric major trauma jobs were attended to during this period. Also, if possible, it would be good to see the number of calls that ScotSTAR attended and what number of these were emergency transfers, scheduled transfers, and if they attended any emergency calls.

Please see the tables below showing the number of incidents generated, number of incidents attended, and number of those incidents conveyed where the patients age was recorded as <16.
In the absence of a definitive definition of major trauma we have provided our interpretation of this as a count of incidents where there is a recommendation input within the Paediatric Major Trauma Tool, indicating the crew have completed that, and they believed it to be a Major Trauma.
Please note caution on the interpretation of this data. The data provided is reliant on the date of births being known and entered manually by our Ambulance Clinicians at the time of the incident attended. It is for this reason that there may be cases within this data set of an entry of an incorrect date of birth or records missing as this information has not been entered as it was unknown.

The Neonatal team classify transfers as Emergency or Scheduled/Elective as part of the Scottish National Neonatal Network.
Please see the table below showing the number of ScotSTAR transfers. Please note, the, Emergency Medical Responders (EMRS) and Paediatric intra-hospital transfers are always classed as an emergency transfer and in addition, EMRS attend pre-hospital critical care incidents (Primary Missions) but the Neonatal and Paediatric teams do not attend pre-hospital critical care incidents.
