If you do not need ambulance transport, you may be able to arrange transport through other organisations. Alternatively you may be able to claim help with your travel costs to and from hospital.

What other transport options are available to you? 

Car - Free parking is available at most NHS hospitals, which also have reserved spaces for Blue Badge holders. 

Can you take public transport? 

Bus – Bus travel to hospital is available in most parts of Scotland, and may be an option. Free travel is available if you are over 60 or have an eligible disability through the Concessionary Travel Scheme. This can be claimed by applying for a National Entitlement Card. Train – Travelling by train is available in most parts of Scotland and may be an option for many people. Discounted fares are available if you have a Senior Railcards. For more information on obtaining a Senior Railcard please call 08448 714036 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm). Holders of Disabled Person’s Rail cards can also receive discounted travel. For more information on this, please call 0845 605 0525 (Monday to Sunday, 7am to 10pm). If you have a disability and would like extra assistance with getting on and off trains you can request this help in advance by contacting Scotrail on 0800 912 2901.
